Ms Fizza Akbar is a Senior Instructor in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the Aga Khan University, specializing in paediatric genetics and metabolics. She holds an MSc in Genomic Medicine from the University of Manchester, UK, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Genomic Counselling at the University of British Columbia, Canada. With five years of experience as a genetic counsellor, Ms Akbars expertise spans a wide range of hereditary conditions and genetic counselling for pre-marital, pre-conception, and hereditary cancer risk assessment. She is also actively involved in training and mentoring new genetic counsellors and frequently shares her insights at national and international forums, contributing to the advancement of genomic medicine and patient care in Pakistan.
